Break Anchor: Severs the anchor that binds a Poltergeist to an area.

Detect Unnatural: Gives the caster a strong feeling that something unnatural is present. The stonger the unnatural, the more it will effect the caster, and for longer periods of time. It has been known that a caster, who touches upon the unnatural, can be permenently effected by such an awareness. When this spell is cast, the caster must hold an item, a phylactery, in physical contact with the dying creature.  If the phylactery is not held in physical contact with the targeted creature, the soul of that creature will depart (however, there will be a 30% chance of the target's soul housing within the caster).

 

As the creature passes away, it's soul will remain permanently housed within the phylactery (unless forced out, destroyed, etc.).

 

Notes:

1.

A soul housed within the Supernaturalist may fight to gain control of the caster's will.

 

2.

A soul housed within the Supernaturalist may speak with the caster within his or her mind, but must pit mental-strength vs. the mental-strength of the caster to do so.

     The duration of this communication will be 1-D4 turns (+1 per turn the soul attempts to keep the link beyond the duration -- the soul must pit its Mental-Strength vs. the caster's Mental-Strength (single roll check) every turn beyond the 1-D4 turns to continue communicating).

As the last Mental-strength vs. Mental-strength check is rolled, if the caster is successful, the Poltergeist will be created, thus beginning its new existence.

To create a Poltergeist is risky business, for a Spirit's natural instinct will be to resist. It will either flee or attack the caster (usually the latter (70% chance). If the Spirit knows the caster can defeat it, it will attempt to flee before attacking.

 

A successfully transformed spirit will be irrevoceably anchored to the very spot (the space) the spirit became a Poltergeist. It cannot break away and roam further than 30 spaces (150') unless the caster sets a more lenient boundary for it to roam. In any case, it cannot be further than +2 addition spaces per level of the caster.

 

If it wishes, the Poltergeist can make itself known to any who come within that area. Non-sentient creatures can feel a presence from a Poltergeist, but cannot be directly effected as can a sentient creature (10% of the normal effects). Note: Non-sentient creatures will naturally shy away from an area a Poltergeist is anchored to.

 

WARNING:

There is a 10% chance that a newly created Poltergeist will break the anchor in 1-D6 moons time (1-6 months), thus it will be free to roam as it wills, to seek out a place to inhabit. A Poltergeist that has broken away will be free to torment any it comes in contact with, or make a pact --a deal. Note: One of the reasons a Spirit forced Poltergeist might make a pact with another is to destroy its creator, for a burning enmity will possess it. Example: A sentient creature encoutnering this Poltergeist might join with it, thus anchoring to that creature (a Poltergeist can only anchor to a sentient creature). This would add an element to an adventure. This is only one scenario that could play out and would be strictly to the discretion of the Game Master.
