Special Abilities:
Dark-Vision: This undead detects the living, even through deep darkness.
Levitation.
Special Defenses:
None.
Special Offenses:
Despairing Wail: Each turn there will be a 40% chance of a Remnant issuing a ghastly wail that will fill the air with such misery as to effect the living. All within 6 spaces must make a successful avoidance-roll vs. "Faith" or begin to decay. Decay will manifest itself in the form of shriveling the flesh of the living. Each time this occurs, victims will lose 1/3 of their damage points, visually manifested in the shriveling of the physical body. When this occurs, all Remnants will be healed of 1/3 it's total damage-points (10).
If the 3rd avoidance-roll vs. "Faith" is failed, victims of this terrible attack will shrivel and decay, becoming a Remnant themselves. They will then join their once enemy in the merciless attack against their once companions. It is important to note that after a victim falls to this horrific onslaught, one random Remnant will regain mortality; brought back to life. When this occurs, the once Remnant (now a living person) will suffer from permanent amnesia. See: "Note".
Game Master:
I would let the player of the fallen character roll up a new character and play the person with Amnesia (random Race).
If all Remnants are destroyed, this effect will reverse, restoring victims health and physical vigor, but only if they are not already changed into a Remnant. When this happens, each victim must make a successful avoidance-roll vs. "Mental-Attack", or become feeble minded for 1-D6 days, at the end of which time another avoidance-roll vs. "Mental-Attack"can be attempted. This will continue until, finally, victims succeed this avoidance-roll. While feeble minded, survivors of this terrible effect will suffer from the following conditions:
1. Avoidance-rolls dealing with moral and bravery: Reduced by 50%.
2. Ability and Spell failure ------------------------------ : 99%
3. Ability and Spell-Points ------------------------------ : Cease to regenerate.
4. Defense and Offense --------------------------------- : -40%
5. Luck ------------------------------------------------------ : Will not renew - the situation is not ended.
Note: Engaging in combat, whether to defend or attack, can be highly difficult for recovering victims. Many fall to threats, even after being victorious over this terrible undead. Before returning to normal activities, it is best to find a place of peace and safety to recover from this awful effect.
Susceptibilities and Weaknesses: Holy Water will cause +50% damage.
Weapon Susceptibilities : Rank-1 (or better) magic weapon to harm.
