Trade-Skills (Brewer):

This trade-skill will enable you to make many varieties of drinks, both hot and cold. If you can dream up a concoction, you can attempt to make it. All you need are the herbs and spices, as well as the proper cooking utensils to do your work.

Modification-point cost: 8

Beginning chance to bre (added the following):

1. Sense of Smell + Taste + Touch + Vision.

2. Divide the result by 5

3. The Result will be your beginning chance to brew and create drinks successfully. This means any concoction you can think up, you will have a % chance to create it successfully.

Each time you successfully create a brew or drink, your %Chance to create another of the same recipe will increase by +1%.

Example:
After dividing the total of your Sense of Smell, Taste, Touch and Vision, your result is a 25, you will have a 25% chance to create any brew or drink successfully. Then, each time you create that specific concoction, it will become easier (so list all the brews and drinks on a paper and keep track of your successes.

Maximum success Brewing chance: 99%

Special:

Your brewing is at 99% proficiency for creating Mint Tea (your have reached your maximum potential).

After making the pot of Mint Tea, you inform the G.M., you are attempting to re-brew it (or continue to "craft" it, in a manner of speaking). You inform the G.M. you will attempt to preform a 1st mastery on the Mint Tea. You have never done a 1st. Mastery on Mint Tea, and so your chance will be just like in the beginning. You will have a 25% chance to make the Mint Tea far better tasting and soothing to the senses.

You roll the %Dice and, to your thrill, you make the roll! You have just created a batch of Mint Tea, the likes of which few are privilaged to taste. The best thing about this, is your 1st Mastery 25% chance has just risen to a 26%.

Note:

Make sure you keep a record of all you do. Also, let's say you are able to create a 3rd Mastery Mint Tea - the only way to do this is to successfully brew a normal Mint Tea, then use that Mint Tea to brew 1st Master Mint Tea. It is then, that you can attempt to create a 2nd Mastery Mint Tea (but you must do it with the same batch of tea; there is no other way). To your satisfaction, you make the roll for 2nd Mastery Mint Tea. At this point, others around you, who smell the tea, will, no doubt, begin hovering close by, asking if they can sample your brew.

You do not wish to let them have any; not until you push your limit in Breweing.

Now that you have created a 2nd Master Mint Tea, you wish to increase your skills by attempting to brew the Tea into a 3rd Mastery drink.

The problem is, you only have a 43% chance. You are willing to take the chance, because you need your skill in Brewing to increase. You inform the G.M. you will be taking the risk of creating a Level 3 Mastery Mint Tea.

The G.M. gives you his or her full attention and you roll. The result of your roll is a 40 (you needed a 43 or under to be successful). You have just taken the chance and succeeded. Your 43% chance to create a Level 3 Mint Tea is now raised toa 44% chance.

This was just an example of how you work your master brewing.

If you see how this works, you also must realize something of great significance. In fact, very few of my testplayers have ever truly understood the power of mastering their trade-skills. They focus upon abilities and spells. This is very unbalanced, yet they all have the freedom to choose their own paths (and, either way, we have fun). The higher the mastery, the greater the value of your brews, as well as social power.

If you read the trilogy, "Raven", look for Tha`Shealin's opinion as to why she does not bring war and devistation to the area where stands the City Port Navan. There is a reason why this dragon queen does not make ware against that area, and it has to do with one who has always loved to cook.

MASTER BREWER:
Once you reach the "Maximum success chance" (99%), you can then add another ingredient into a recipe in an attempt to "Master Brew" it. You can even add another ingredient to an already Brewed drink to enhance the taste.

Master Brew will increase the taste and desirability, not to mention the value, of an already existing drink, or one you wish to create.

If you fail to Master Brew a drink, it will be ruined (it may yet be tasty, but will not be what you wanted), and you will have to start over from scratch.

You will start out with a 25% chance to Master Brew a drink. For each successful drink you Master Brew, your % chance to Master Brew will increase by +1.

Example:
If you have a 25% chance to Master Brew a drink, and are successful, you will gain +1 added to your current 25% chance to Master Brew the next time you attempt the same (you would then have a 26% chance).

Once you reach a 99% chance to Master Brew, you will have obtained full 1st Mastery. You will then start over with a 25% chance to 2nd Master Brew a drink.

If successful, you will again gain +1 to your 2nd Master Brew skill to prepare or enhance a drink you have just succeeded with a 1st Master Brew. When you reach 99% chance to 2nd Master Brew, you can then begin working on your 3rd Mastery, starting out, once again, at 25%, in which you can attempt to Master Brew a 2nd Master Brewed drink. You can continue to increase your Mastery levels as high as you like; there is no limit to this.

Remember, each time you successfully Master Brew the same drink, its taste and value will increase (double), which can create a more tasty and valuable drink.

You must list every type of Brew you attempt, to keep track of them. The following is how to keep a record of each brew you attempt to create:

EXAMPLE:

Type of Brew: %Chance to brew successfully:

Light Ale --------- : 25%

Cinnimon Cider - : 36%

Apple Ale --------- : 77%

Dark Ale --------- : 26%

Mint Tea --------- : 99% (1st. mastery completed for Mint Tea). 2nd Mastery is now at: 67%

Note:

While you can master one brew or drink, you may not have mastery in another. All brews and drinks are done seperately. Remember to keep track of every brew, drink and concoction you create.

Master Brew maximum success chance: 99% (for each and every brew and drink you create).
